Affiliate
Disclosure.
The Short Version
Some links on charlottegalbraith.co.uk are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use my link or not. The retailer simply shares a small slice of their margin with me as a thank you for sending you their way.
That commission is what keeps the blog running. It pays for hosting, the time I spend testing products, and means the writing here can stay free to read.
What An Affiliate Link Is
An affiliate link is a tracked URL. When you click it, a small cookie is placed in your browser so the retailer knows I sent you. If you buy something within their cookie window (usually 24 hours for Amazon, longer for some others), I earn a commission on that sale.
You can identify affiliate links on this site in three ways:
- They are tagged with
rel="sponsored nofollow"in the page code, the search-engine signal Google requires - Every article that contains them opens with a clear disclosure box at the very top
- Most call-to-action buttons read "Check Price at [Retailer]"
The Programmes I Work With
- Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Store ID:
chargalb-21. - Awin. Publisher ID 2740600. This is the network I use for brands like ASOS, M&S, Sweaty Betty, and lululemon.
- Direct brand partnerships. Occasionally I work directly with a brand under a programme they run themselves. The same disclosure rules apply.
I will not write a positive review of a product I dislike just because there is money on the table. If something disappoints me, it gets a critical review or it doesn't get published at all.The Editorial Promise
How I Choose What To Recommend
I only recommend products I have personally bought, used, or thoroughly researched. The presence of an affiliate link never influences what I include in a roundup, the rating I give, or the honest caveats I share. If I think something is overpriced, doesn't work, or isn't worth your money, I will say so, even if there is a commission attached.
Gifted Products & Press Samples
If a brand sends me a product to test for free, I will say so within the article using wording such as "gifted by [brand]" or "PR sample". Receiving a free product does not guarantee a positive review and never has.
Sponsored Content
If an entire article or section is paid for by a brand, meaning they paid me to write it rather than me writing about something I chose independently, it will be clearly labelled "AD", "Paid Partnership", or "Sponsored Post" at the very top, in line with the Advertising Standards Authority's CAP Code and the Competition and Markets Authority's guidance on hidden advertising.
At the time of writing, the vast majority of content on this site is independently chosen, not sponsored.
The UK Law I Follow
This disclosure exists to comply with:
- The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, which strengthened protections against hidden advertising
- The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008
- The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) Code, particularly the rules on identifying advertising
- The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) guidance on online endorsements and influencer marketing
- The Amazon Associates Operating Agreement disclosure requirements
You always have the choice not to use my affiliate links. Searching for the product directly on the retailer's site costs you nothing and works exactly the same. The blog simply earns nothing in that case.
Cookies & Data
Affiliate links place cookies in your browser to track the referral. These are set by the retailer, not by me, and are subject to the retailer's own privacy policy. For more on how this site uses cookies generally, see my Privacy Policy.
No Earnings Or Results Guarantee
Product results vary from person to person. A skincare ingredient that worked beautifully for me may not suit your skin, and a workout legging I love may not flatter your shape. Always patch test new skincare, check ingredient lists if you have allergies or sensitivities, and use your own judgement.
Nothing on this blog is medical advice. If you have a skin condition, please speak to a GP or dermatologist.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you would like to flag a piece of content you think isn't properly disclosed, please email hello@charlottegalbraith.co.uk and I will fix it within 48 hours.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for supporting the blog when you do choose to use my links. It genuinely keeps the lights on.
